Mahi Mahi, a beautifully flaky and tender fish, is a canvas for bold flavors. In this recipe, we pair it with a rich, velvety lemon garlic butter sauce that will leave your taste buds in awe. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or an elevated weekend meal, this dish is as simple to make as it is impressive.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Mahi Mahi fillets (6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup white wine (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Fish
Start by patting the Mahi Mahi fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a beautiful sear. Season generously on both sides with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

2. Sear the Mahi Mahi
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place the fillets into the skillet, flesh side down. Sear for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.

3. Create the Lemon Garlic Butter Sauce

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt, then add the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Pour in the white wine (if using) and lemon juice, and let the sauce simmer for about 3 minutes until slightly reduced.

4. Finish the Sauce
Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter and lemon zest. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Add the chopped parsley for a burst of fresh flavor.

5. Serve and Garnish
Plate the Mahi Mahi fillets and generously spoon the lemon garlic butter sauce over the top. Garnish with extra parsley and lemon wedges for a bright, citrusy finish.

Chef’s Tip:

For an added touch of elegance, serve this dish with roasted vegetables or a creamy risotto. The key to achieving a perfect sear on the fish is to let it sit undisturbed in the pan – this creates a beautiful crust that enhances both texture and flavor.
